Westwood Christian Church is an independent, Bible‑based, Christ‑centered body of believers, committed to reaching the Madison area with the message of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We are in fellowship with thousands of free congregations throughout the world, known only as “Christian Churches,” who are endeavoring to restore unity to Christ’s church by following the Bible only, proclaiming Christ as our creed, and recognizing that we are not the “only Christians,” but “Christians only.”
We observe the Lord’s Supper (communion) each Sunday in remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Membership is open to anyone who professes committed faith in Christ and is obedient to Him in baptism by immersion.
Westwood Christian Church exists to exalt God by winning people to a relationship with Christ, building people to maturity in Christ, connecting people into the body of Christ, sending people to serve in the name of Christ.
Westwood is a congregation that focuses on (1) evangelism and outreach to the community and the world and (2) discipleship through solid Biblical preaching, teaching, and fellowship.
Our Core Values
Jesus is the Head of the Church. We seek to follow his will as revealed in Scripture and to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, so that each follower of Christ recognizes him for who he is and depends personally on him as creator, sustainer, and redeemer.
The Bible is inspired by God and relevant for today’s world. We seek to make it central in all our teaching, so that followers will seek to live a godly life and will grow toward maturity in Christ.
People come to salvation through belief in Jesus as the Son of God, repentance for their sins, confession of Jesus as God’s Son, and baptism through immersion, so that they receive the forgiveness of their sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The work of the church requires preaching the Gospel to all people through involvement in the community and support of mission efforts around the world, so that all who desire a personal relationship with Jesus will be welcomed in the Body of Christ (the church).
Weekly worship includes singing, the Lord’s Supper, prayer, and preaching the Word of God, so that each follower participates in corporate and personal worship in a manner that glorifies God.
Every Christian has received spiritual gifts. We seek to enable followers to identify their spiritual gifts, so that they may serve others and glorify God.
Support for the local church comes through the personal stewardship, giving, and involvement of her members, so that the body and individuals within the body recognize God’s provision for all of their needs.
